Description:
Claera is a clear, transluscent plant with crystal-like properties. It produces flowers that have a striking resemblance to gemstones. It is renowned for its sturdy properties and is incredibly expensive due to how rare it is. The crystals produced from it are much more brilliant and shiny than mundane crystal equivalents. Aelheim has a variety with special properties.
Cultural Significance:
Known as the jeweler's plant, it is something often grown or sourced by master jewelry crafters. It can be cross bred to produce crystals of a variety of colors, allowing it to mimic rubies, sapphires, etc. with enough time and patience. Aelheim's variety has a special property only visible with lifesight. When someone with the ability sees something crafted from the plant, they usually double take to see if there is some important detail they missed.
Habitat:
Grows in caves
Size:
Grows to be one foot tall.
Biome Role:
It's thought that the plant absorbs magic from the ground and converts it into its brilliant crystals. Some animals feed on the crystals.
Life Cycle:
The plant will grow from seed into a 1' tall plant in a couple months. From there, it will grow crystals that can become up to the size of a fist over ten years, though these are typically harvested well before then.
Resources:
Gemstone equivalents - 1.5x the hardness of steel and cannot be manipulated by terrari.
Invisible Ink - Only available with the Aelheim variant. The center of the crystals contain a clear liquid that can be used as invisible ink. Only those with lifesight can see this ink.
