A peculiar note caught Luke’s attention when he woke up and ate his breakfast. It was contained in an envelope and detailed a job that would require him to go hunt someone down and bring them in for questioning. It was signed with the name of one of the rakshasa and as if he needed some proof that it was actually from them, it came with a paw print that had impressions of some glyhpics in them.

Was this another test? Another silly trial? Maybe they wanted to see how he fared in a real fight instead of spars. Or maybe there was some greater design to all this that he wasn’t going to be made aware of. Regardless, he didn’t feel any reason to decline the request. He got dressed in some inconspicuous looking robes then made his way out of his room, out of the city, and out to the deserts.

He had been made privy to location of this target. Somewhere out in the deserts by an oasis, where mercenaries tended to frequent as it made a good base of operations to get to and from the main city while also being able to travel to go do jobs. That told him that his target was probably well trained.

Hours later and Luke had entered the perimeter of the oasis and asked around until he got pointed to the person that the note described. When he spotted her, he noticed that she looked familiar, but he couldn’t put his finger on who it was.

Feeling no need to have a chat with his target, he waited for the perfect moment when she was away from anyone else to start his attack. He held out his hand and sent a volley of firebolt-like flames from his hands that would rain down on her. With any luck he would be able to end the fight before it could really even begin. It wasn’t every day that he fought against someone who could deal with this much fire being slung at them but if he recognized this woman there was a good chance that she was more than capable of defending herself.

When his initial volley of flames subsided he took a moment to see what she would do next. He was testing the waters, as they say. No need to come at her with all he had unless he was sure he could get away with using less energy.

And yet, when the flames died down he saw the woman standing there as if nothing had happened. She looked over his shoulder and stuck her tongue at her.

“Holding back your true power again I see,” he grumbled, “don’t make me have to beat your true potential out of you...”

He decided to be a little more creative. He dug his feet into the ground and opened his mouth wide. He felt power well up inside of him for a brief moment before a torrent of flames spewed from his mouth. They spread out like a dragon’s breath weapon, a cone of incredible power that would be enough to incinerate most any mundane material on the planet.

Then, he concentrated fire into his fists and thrust them out, hopefully searing the woman with a flaming pillar that would hopefully put her down for good. His anger had taken over, anger at being bested. He knew he was supposed to bring her back alive but he was starting to think that wouldn’t be an option if she was so resistant to his attacks.

His assumptions seemed to be correct, when the smoke cleared. The woman had taken absolutely no damage whatsoever. This woman was impervious, somehow. She grinned at him like she was incapable of showing her true potential without being beaten to a pulp first. He would have to remedy this somehow. His flames had engulfed her but still she stood strong. It was infuriating to say the least, and it was starting to drive him mad. Did there exist someone out there that could truly tank his strongest attacks without a care in the world?

He growled and held out his hands again. This time, electricity lanced from his fingers, attempting to shock the woman into submission followed by a dazzling flurry of electric balls that had similar goals in mind. If he could shock her he suspected he could awaken her true potential or maybe just incapacitate her. That would probably make his employer happy, even if it would make for a boring fight.

"Come on, fight me! I was hoping for a little more! Doesn't getting attacked mean anything to you???"

Finally, at long last, the woman decided to attack him back. She moved with a grace he'd rarely seen before and definitely hadn't expected. She moved quickly too, managing to close the gap between them in what seemed like an instant. She brought her fist towards him and he only just reacted fast enough to stop the punch with his forearms, though it was jarring enough to make him slide backwards.

Then she flew up into the sky before coming down to try smashing him with some kind of magically enhanced attack. Stuck in this position, he started to glow then flames errupted from his body, defending against her follow up physical attacks that would probably not have much luck with punching through fire despite her apparent resistance to flames. Now he had to think about what he needed to do next... should he continue with fire? or try another option?

"That's what I'm talking about. Give me a fight worth remembering!"
