15th of Fall 124

The sun pierced through the thick foliage of the forest and the play of light and dark could be seen on the ground. The weather was pleasantly fresh, the smell is the fresh scent of the pine trees and wet ground. Below it, the ground is spongy with a layer of leaves, twigs, and moss on the forest floor.

The trees are huge with crooked branches and thick bole like the guardians of the forest. They have a dark and rough bark with green moss growing in blotches on the tree. The undergrowth is made up of ferns and low shrubs and there are patches of bright green in the darker green of the forest.

In some places the sun pierced through the trees in thin rays and there are small glades of grass on which grow tiny flowers of the wilderness. The tweet tweets of birds and the moving of the leaves gives it a gentle feel almost like a song. Sometimes one can hear a faint call of an animal in the distance.

The undergrowth is thick and the growth is composed of twisted vines and thorns mixed with ferns and shrubs. It feels like the forest is tightening around you with each turn offering new groups of shadows and lights. The temperature is lower as you go further and the smell of soil becomes stronger.

A thin line of displaced soil and snapped twigs indicates that the subject passed through the thickets recently. The sounds that can be heard are the occasional snap of a twig underfoot and the rustling of the leaves which gives the scene an air of anticipation.

It is a winding path, and the path is quite narrow, and it goes through a maze of trees and shrubs. Further on the light decreases even more and the canopy above forms almost impenetrable green roof. Trees cast long and ominous shadows further enhancing the mysterious and somewhat eerie feel of the forest.

The bushes and trees block sounds which makes it possible to experience moments of silence in the forest, although there is the constant sound of the wind blowing. The trail takes the tracker to a small open area that is surrounded by trees and bushes and the ground is muddy with signs of recent traffic.

On the perimeter of the clearing the forest goes back to its dark dense state, and the undergrowth provides a natural barrier. The smell of the forest and the smell of the disturbance remain in the air, which is still and rather cool.

The boar that is being hunted is a large, strong animal with thick skin, which is covered with bristles. It has a rough coat of dark brown to black hair with stiff bristles along its back.

It has two long and sharp tusks curved to form points that are located in its snout, and they shine with death. They are powerful instruments for protection and control.

The eyes of the boar are small and sharp with a small distance between them and situated at the middle of the flat face of the boar. They shine with the look of animals that are alert and ready for a fight.

It has strong muscular legs for acceleration and for sudden bursts of energy and charges. Every hoof is large and hardy, suitable for walking in the dense forest ground surface area.

The boar has a large snout which is always digging into the ground for food in the undergrowth. It snorts and grunts as it moves and the noise reverberates through the forest.

There is an elf in the trees with a natural agility, and the character's slender figure seems to flow through the trees. They move gracefully almost like they are a part of the forest. Just as quickly as he appeared others followed suit. They were merely passing by.

Ther clothes were of green and brown colors which makes them almost invisible in the forest. Their clothing is practical and camouflaged so that they can move around the forest without being detected.

Their ears are long and pointed and they have long hair which flows behind them like a veil. The hair is a silvery shine, glinting in the light as they leap.

There is a stream that flows calmly along the forest, the water is crystal clear and sparkles in the sun. The stones are smooth and the water flows over them creating a ripple effect on the surface of the water. The water is crystal clear and has a slight current, which moves continuously forward. Small fish swim in the water and their movements are very jerky and quick.

Sometimes, there are fallen branches and leaves which are washed by the water and they are moving slowly on the water surface. They float aimlessly.

Makt carried his spear, the one he'd never actually used in any practical manner. But it was cool, had a nice pattern to it, and it felt comfortable in his hands. He used it as a walking stick as he moved through the forest in search of this boar. What was so special about it, he had no idea but Ash, the one who helped him find fauna and stay alive out in the wilderness, was there with him.

She guided him, pointing out the right spots to jump to, which plants to avoid… she was a great help. She even pointed out the aelves up ahead moving through the trees. Their presence was a little worrying – the faelnir didn't want to be in the way of their business. A part of him told him to call off the hunt, but Ash was insistent that they keep up the pace or they'd lose the boar's trail.

With any luck they'd find it, and they could then finally get back home.

Apparently when I try to be more verbose I write like AI so let's try harder this time

The elves disappeared from view. The humans would not be able to see where they had gone but they made no sound that the two could hear. All they could focus on was the boar that was standing at the stream. It looked up at them.

It eyed Ash. Its eyes were beady and curious. It did not fear a human. It was a large boar, they would see. It stood as tall as a man. Two people? That was nothing.

There would be something odd that Makt would notice. He would be able to detect sentient minds nearby. His connection with the minds around him would know that there was one more intelligent life form besides Ash nearby.

It would be located near the boar but it was not the boar. There was a fox drinking from the stream who was also eyeing them. It did not look any different than a normal fox and it behaved identically to a real fox.

Yet there would be the unmistakable connection he would be able to feel if Makt touched its mind. Something was amiss.

The fox had orange fur. There were white circles around its tail which looked pretty in the reflection of the water. It was a normal sized fox.

Makt cocked an eyebrow and looked at the fox, even as Ash looked at him expectantly. "Well, are you going to do something?" her expression seemed to ask. Makt narrowed his eyes at the fox, trying to figure out what was wrong with it. How was it that he was feeling sentience from it? He prodded at its emotions to try to read its emotional state to see if there was anything peculiar about it. He also tried to feed it calming emotions – nothing overwhelming, just gentle nudges. The last thing he wanted was for it to run away, not that he thought it would get far.

He looked at the boar to make sure that it was also not in a state of aggression. If it came down to it, he would need to prioritize the boar. His Master wanted its heart, for whatever reason. Today, in fact, so Makt wasn't going to be returning home without it.

Assuming the boar was peaceful, he would hold up a hand and squeeze a little. The psychoplasm field that he projected started to squeeze at the fox which would hopefully immobilize it.

"What are you doing?" Ash asked.

"There's something wrong with this fox," Makt said. Assuming he could, he would pull it over so that it was a few yards away. He'd turn it around as if physically examining it. He absent mindedly kicked up a light breeze as he did so, to give the impression that he was using Zephyr – no humans knew that he was a Deep One, that he knew of anyways. He'd like to keep it that way."

"What do you mean?"

"I dunno, I just get this feeling…"

The fox would freeze in place, the grip on it too strong and sudden. It would know that something was wrong in an instant especially when its body lifted off the ground. Makt would be able to feel its fear even though Makt tried to gently calm it.

It floated helplessly for a while but after not being able to breath it was hard to keep up the disguise. The Inari in disguise started to change until it was a much larger animal. It became a large buck deer with huge antlers that stood even taller than the boar.

Such a weight could not be held up even by a master of fathom.

Once it dropped to the ground it would run and this scared the boar. Soon there would be two large running creatures with the desire to get away as quickly as possible.

What would our two adventurers do?

Makt's eyes widened when he saw the transformation take place. "It's a… an Inari!" he shouted, turning to Ash for only a moment to register how shocked that she must have been. "Or maybe a boggart? Or a changeling. In any case, I'm sure my Master would be pleased if I caught it."

He almost didn't care about the boar at this point, but he took several graceful steps forward, building up electricity at the tips of his fingers as he canted. He held out his pointer and middle fingers of one hand out at the boar and aimed right at its center. He would try his best to avoid the heart while still trying to immobilize it.

The deer though, he wasn't too sure how its glamor organ worked. He would just have to transport the whole deer, but he didn't know if he even could. He took off after it, briefly turning his entire body into a flash of electricity before repositioning himself close to it. He held out his hand that had his ring of innermateria and tried to freeze the changeling in place.

Ash would have jogged after him, not wanting to get caught exposed in case one of the animals decided to attack her. She was a pretty good at surviving, but going up against animals this big gave her anxiety. She had a bow slung across her back but she only used it to shoot arrows as a distraction – she couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

A hole the size of a fist zapped through the boar. It seared a hole in it and the residual sparkles of electricity shocked it to its knees. It was not dead but it was not going to be moving much for now.

Ash would be able to know that the boar would not be down forever. So much of what was hit was fat and not vital muscle. Its injury was not immediately fatal.

The changeling did not expect to be frozen in place but that is what happened. It stopped mid gallop and fell onto its side. It skidded on the ground for a while before ending up slamming against a tree. It could not speak even if it wanted to. It could not even transform.

That was to say that they had time to handle the boar and finish up business. After that they could return to the deer and figure out what to do. It was heavy. Way too heavy to be carried. But something frozen like it was could probably be dismembered.

There was also the question of why. What had the changeling done? Was drinking water from a stream a crime? What if they were a citizen? What if they were an elf? Makt had attacked a sapient being. Unprovoked at that.

Maybe this would prevent him from doing something rash.

"It's not dead yet," Ash said to Makt in a hurried whisper as she pointed at the boar. She was right, though Makt hadn't wanted it dead. If he had, he would have sent a much larger attack at it. He needed that heart.

He looked back at the deer and said, "well, I've frozen this one in place. Unless it has some tricks up its sleeve, it should be like this for a very, very long time." He had spent aether from the ring, and that meant it would cast as powerfully as it could. "That being said, we can't transport it like this. It's too heavy."

"But what did it do wrong?" Ash asked, "should we just leave it?"

"It's a changeling," Makt explained, "they're not exactly the best kind of mages to have around. Worst case we could bring it to my Master and he can decide what to do from there."

"But if we have to dismember it…" Ash explained, "and if that was the wrong thing to do, what will happen?"

Makt rubbed his chin pensively. "I'm not sure. We could leave it. "Fuck, I shouldn't have frozen it for that long."

The two of them jogged over to the boar. Makt held out his hand and fired a fireball at it – large enough to engulf the beast, and stopped the flames from moving past it. He wanted to cook it alive, enough to kill it but to leave the insides of it still living. If he succeeded, he would have Ash slice the boar open so that he could freeze the heart with his ring. Using his own aether, of course.

Anticlimactically, a large wooden wall started to form around the buck. A couple elves dropped down from the trees after that and killed the inari. They did not bother Makt or his friend as they worked, but did eye his ring apprehensively. It was not usual for that powerful of an artifact to be wielded by a human.

They left without speaking which let Makt harvest the organ he came for. There would be little else for them to do now that their job was done. They could inspect the remains of the inari but it would be unable to be used for anything with the wooden spikes that protruded from its body.

The good news was that makkt was not punished for his actions. Maybe they would even reward him somehow by passing on the word that he'd found one to his master. Makt would never know of this however.

I genuinely have no idea why your first post flagged like that aside from the word repetition; I allowed Haru to handle that in large part because I don't understand the nuances of those detectors. My only advice is to add more variance to the way you begin your sentences since I think that's the part that got flagged. For example, avoid starting so many sentences with "the," etc. (which I know is annoying but is something I also forced myself to stop doing just because it improves the flow of paragraphs in general). You also tend to not have this problem in your shorter posts for whatever reason, but I suppose verbosity can lead to repetition if you're not used to writing longer posts.

Excluding the first post, all of this reads fine to me! Classic Ælf behavior to spoil a Fælnir's hunt for anything valuable. Also, lol, that was a massive deer! I would've thought to use a moose because those are gigantic, but I suppose there probably are deer species that'd crest over 1,000lbs on Antarok, too.
