Description:
Known by many as the 'tree of the underground', this mushroom has a great many applications for those who dwell beneath Antarok. It earned its name by being very stubborn and difficult to deal with. It grows rapidly and under the right conditions it can be as tough as steel. They also tend to take a large variety of shapes - some appearing short and stout with others stretching all the way to the tops of large caverns.
Cultural Significance:
This is a staple 'construction' fungus. Entire towns have been constructed with it. In areas where this plant grows, it is usually someone's job to make sure they aren't growing so large that they block passageways, or growing too plentiful to conserve water resources. Sloadh that can manipulate this fungus are highly valued for their ability to bend it to their will. Likewise, when this mushroom is encountered above ground, it is usually an annoyance as regular druids and terrari cannot manipulate it.
Habitat:
Natural to Ur'Duun but it can grow anywhere that has a lot of magical activity and supports fungal growth.
Size:
Its size is limited purely by how much it is allowed to grow. If allowed to grow with unlimited water and magical activity, it could easily reach 100 feet in height before it keels over under its own weight - although at this point it usually leans against other structures.
Biome Role:
Parts of it can be eaten by wildlife and it releases its excess moisture, allowing other plants to grow.
Life Cycle:
It is a rapidly growing mushroom which can grow a foot per day in ideal conditions. Spores are released monthly.
Resources:
It is most commonly used as a building material. It is also edible, though it is not appetizing in the least to playable races.
Notable Features:
- Water Retention
Sloadh can modify the water content to adjust the hardness of the fungus. They can vary its strength at will such that it is as hard as steel with low water concentration or as pliable as plant fiber with high concentration.
