Aesthetic - Petals of the Storm

The practitioner of Cherry Blossom Dance moves with the grace of falling petals, their strikes creating bursts of air pressure that scatter cherry blossoms composed of crystallized Aerisite that swiftly dissipate across the battlefield. Each swing of the blade or thrust of the spear manipulates the air, creating a serene yet deadly storm of wind and manipulates barometric pressure.


Abilities

Passive - Petal Breeze


The practitioner's movements subtly alter the air pressure around them. The Air acts as an opposing force, that pushes against oncoming objects, and using air friction to slow incoming projectiles, and eventually deflecting projectiles. Making it harder for enemies to land precise ranged attacks.

Buff - Blossom Surge

The practitioner temporarily amplifies the barometric pressure surrounding their weapon, increasing the speed and impact force of their strikes in combat. This creates a whirling air current, and cuts nearby enemies over time by generating petals of crystallized Aerisite that dissipate over time.

Active - Gale Thrust

A concentrated release of barometric pressure through a single thrust of the spear or swing of the sword, sending a compressed airwave toward the enemy. This wave can thwart an opponent's ability to stand, or shatter weapons and armor.

Active - Petal Tempest

The user rapidly rotates their weapon, causing the air converge, forming a localized storm of high-pressure wind, and crystallized petals that gradually tear apart opponents flesh before dissipating.

Active - Stormfront Cleave

A devastating downward strike that releases all built-up air pressure at once, creating a shockwave that damages and disorients enemies. This attack leaves behind a lingering zone of unstable air, and petals composed of crystallized Aerisite making movement difficult for foes caught within while tearing them asunder.


Ranks

Novice


Novices of Cherry Blossom Dance are just beginning to understand the basics of barometric pressure. Their strikes are precise but lack refinement, and their control over barometric pressure is minimal. They cannot generate petals made of crystallized Aerisite at this time.

  • Passive Ability:
    A Novice's Petal Breeze slightly-reduces the effectiveness of small projectiles by slowing them down, and subtly slows incoming melee attacks only slightly reducing the impact.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge enhances the practitioner's speed and adds a faint wind around their weapon, causing a minor disruption to nearby foes within reach.
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust: Unavailable at Novice
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    generates a mild flurry of wind that can disrupt and cut through wood, or bone within a 5 ft radius.
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    creates a basic shockwave that causes the air to shift, disorienting, and offbalancing enemies struck by the attack.

Apprentice

Apprentices show significant improvement, with enhanced precision and control over the winds. Their abilities albeit unrefined stagger the field of battle. Their abilities generate a handful of crystallized Aerisite petals that dissipate after each ability used that flow with the wind. Their passive generates petals that form and almost instantly dissipate. The petals behave like shrapnel and are capable of slicing(into, not through) wood.

  • Passive Ability:
    Petal Breeze can somewhat redirect small projectiles entirely and reduces the impact force of small-thrown projectiles, or arrows, and can somewhat reduce the impact force of melee strikes within a 15 ft radius.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge increases the practitioner's agility and adds slicing wind allowing the practitioner to cut through stone when they strike, causing moderate disruption to enemies within reach.
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust
    delivers a piercing air strike capable of slicing through wood, and thwarting the balance of an opponent (Equivalent to having a leg swept from beneath)
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    creates a stronger localized windstorm, and that pulls enemies slightly toward the center and causes moderate disorientation within 15 ft.
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    's shockwave destabilizes air pressure, briefly hindering the mobility of nearby enemies. Aerisite crystals generated dissipate within 5 seconds

Journeyman

Journeymen move with fluidity, their strikes seamlessly blending swordplay and barometric manipulation Their abilities generate a small-swarm of crystallized Aerisite petals that dissipate after each ability used that flow with the wind. Their passive generates petals that rapidly form and dissipate which flow with the wind, and behave like shrapnel capable of slicing(into, not through) iron-grade armor.


  • Passive Ability:
    Petal Breeze creates protective gusts of wind that entirely deflect small-thrown projectiles, and significantly reduce the velocity of arrows, and pistol-rounds disrupting enemy accuracy, and reduce the impact force of melee strikes within a 30 ft radius.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge greatly enhances the practitioner's agility and causes powerful, cutting wind to surround their weapon, disrupting the ability of enemies to move, and allowing them to cut through iron within reach.
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust
    delivers a piercing air strike capable of crushing and denting weapons or armor up to iron-grade and staggering groups of foes within a 30 ft radius.
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    produces a vortex of slicing winds, dragging enemies toward the center while cutting, and disorienting enemies within a 30 ft radius.
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    's shockwave destabilizes the air for an extended period, making it difficult for enemies to maneuver as powerful gusts of wind destabilize the ground upon which they stand. Aerisite crystals generated dissipate within 10 seconds

Expert

Experts of Cherry Blossom Dance are awe-inspiring, capable of turning the tide of battle with their mastery of barometric manipulation. Their abilities generate a swarm of crystallized Aerisite petals that dissipate after each ability used that flow with the wind. Their passive generates petals that rapidly form and dissipate which flow with the wind, and behave like shrapnel capable of slicing(into, not through) Steel-grade armor.

  • Passive Ability:
    Petal Breeze creates a wall of wind that nullifies small-thrown projectiles, slows down arrows fired from a crossbow, can reduce the velocity of pistol-rounds and significantly hinders the accuracy of enemies using ranged weapons, and can substantially reduce the impact force of melee weapons within a 60 ft radius.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge sharpens the practitioners movement to an extraordinary level, the cutting winds expand around their weapon allowing them to cut through steel weapons, or armor.
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust
    becomes an explosive strike, shattering enemy defenses, delivering crushing force that can crush, and dent armor, or weapons up to steel-grade in its path up to 60 ft range.
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    generates a large and powerful typhoon of slicing wind, thwarting the balance of enemy formations, pulling them toward the center, and leaving them vulnerable to further attacks within 60 ft.
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    's shockwave destabilizes the battlefield entirely, making it extremely difficult to find footing, or stable ground to stand on without being thrown off balance, and heavily disorients the opponent throwing large amounts of sediment into the air. Aerisite crystals generated dissipate within 20 seconds

Master

Masters of Cherry Blossom Dance are legendary figures whose movements reshape the battlefield with typhoon-like force. Their abilities generate a swathe of crystallized Aerisite petals that dissipate after each ability used that flow with the wind. Their passive generates petals that rapidly form and dissipate which flow with the wind, and behave like shrapnel capable of slicing(into, not through) 1.5x Steel-grade armor.

  • Passive Ability:
    Petal Breeze creates a wind barrier that almost entirely nullifies ranged attacks with the exception of rifle-bullets by pushing against them, and creating an extreme amount of air friction. This drastically dampens the impact of melee strikes, protecting the practitioner and their allies within a 120ft radius.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge transforms the practitioner's weapon into a tool of chaos, creating high velocity winds that allow the practitioner to cut through weapons, or armor of up to 1.5x steel-grade
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust
    becomes a ferocious air strike, delivering crushing force that can crush, and dent up to 1.5x steel-grade armor, or weapons of entire squadrons of enemies up to 120ft range.
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    evolves into a massive cyclone, leaving destruction in its wake and throwing enemies toward the center which can cut through steel-grade armor within 120 ft
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    's shockwave destabilizes the area for an extended duration, rendering enemy movement and actions sluggish while causing continuous disruption, the shockwave, and release of air pressure ruptures the eardrums instantaneously, whilst massive amounts of sediment are sent airborne. Aerisite crystals generated dissipate within 30 seconds

Ascended

An Ascended practitioner of Cherry Blossom Dance becomes a force of nature, embodying the storm itself. Their abilities generate a whirling mass of crystallized Aerisite petals that dissipate after each ability used that flow with the wind. Their passive generates petals that rapidly form and dissipate which flow with the wind, and behave like shrapnel capable of slicing(into, not through) 2x Steel-grade armor.

  • Passive Ability:
    Petal Breeze forms a nigh-impenetrable wind barrier that nullifies nearly all mundane ranged attacks ( i.e crossbow bolts, pistol rounds, rifle-rounds) and dramatically reduces the force of melee strikes. By slowing said projectiles, or melee weapons with outward-moving air. protecting the practitioner and their allies within a 240ft radius.
  • Buff Ability:
    Blossom Surge elevates the practitioner's abilities to their peak, as their weapon is surrounded by powerful gale-force winds, and allows the practitioner to cut through enemy weapons, and armor up to 2x steel within
  • Active Ability:
    Gale Thrust
    unleashes an unstoppable force, creating a chain of explosive air strikes that devastates enemy lines with a range of up to 240 ft.
  • Active Ability:
    Petal Tempest
    creates a colossal storm of gale force winds that rampages across the battlefield, causing widespread chaos leaving lingering winds that tear asunder unarmored enemies, and slash through up to 2x steel armor. Whilst pulling enemies toward its center within 240 ft.
  • Active Ability:
    Stormfront Cleave
    becomes a climactic strike that reshapes the battlefield entirely, creating zones of explosive air pressure, that ruptures the eardrums, destroys the ability for an opponent to find balance sending them flying, and sends large chunks of earth into the air within 240 ft radius. Aerisite crystals generated dissipate within 1 minute

The overall mechanics are fine, there are just some things I'd change with the tiers & a minor edit.

1. Aeris Alkahest is called Aerisite; please correct this throughout the text. You can probably find any of the other ways you typed it by ctrl+F the letters "Aer" & then replacing with Aerisite.

2. The passive deflection ability should be based on weight and velocity as opposed to projectile type. "Thrown projectiles" being entirely negated at Journeyman is a bit much considering that on Antarok, creatures with strength beyond the scope of our reality exist & are capable of throwing things like boulders or projectiles with the force profile of weapons.

That being said, saying it blocks projectiles comparable to weapons like IRL crossbows & pistols is still fine because those do have specific parameters applicable to any projectile that fits a similar force profile.

3. When it comes to attacks that don't dissipate immediately, like Stormfront Cleave, please put a specific timeframe such as "up to x minutes/hours/etc," as not specifying would result in players picking wildly variant timeframes even at similar skill levels.

Alright, this looks fine to me! Once it gets play tested there's always a chance for some changes still, but otherwise it's approved.
