Lean, short for an Æld'Norai and endlessly sour about it, Milos exhibits much of the usual grace of his kin in the way he moves, although he seems to never truly stand still. His face is angular and long, with arched eyebrows and narrow, vivid dark blue eyes. Milos is expressive, only able to mask his emotions when making an active effort to do so, and, thus, he’s easier to read than most Æld'Norai to outsiders. His wide, slightly upturned lips give him a resting expression that appears constantly mirthful, which isn’t that far from the truth. Despite not remembering a time when he wasn’t in Ælfiríki, his pale, greyish blue skin hints at his cave-heritage to those who know what to look for. His arms, shoulders, neck, and scalp are covered by the fibers of the plants he has bound himself to, appearing as thin vein-like lines across his skin.
Some of them are covered by black tattoos that he says tells his life story, although it’s more likely to be an assortment of things that grabbed his interest—feathers, flowers, animals; all be seen in his arm, somehow forming a coherent composition. A tattoo of Ældrassil covers his entire back, and he has small scales tattooed on the side of his left hand and thorny vines around his neck.

The plants that are bond to him tend to grow around his neck or his head, and he sometimes weaves them alongside feathers and the occasional leaf down his wavy black hair that reaches the middle of his back. Extremely light freckles pepper his skin, along with the many scratches he seems to constantly collect. His voice is low, although it carries an almost melodic genderless quality.

His pointy ears, characteristic of his kin, are adorned with multiple dark silver piercings and bone earrings, and Milos certainly has a thing for metallic accessories, especially rings and necklaces. Whatever animal product he uses for his clothes or accessories are always gifted by those close to him or come from animals he hunts himself, but never bought. Sometimes, if he finds something that sparks his interest, he’ll try to make an accessory out of it. Milos favours clothing in darker, muted tones.

Everything that he feels, he feels deeply, and he wears his heart on his face. It isn’t hard to know what he’s feeling, and while Milos isn’t necessarily found of bringing his emotions up, he doesn’t hide it, either. He cares a lot about friends and strangers alike, but when he dislikes something, he hates it with a passion. He’s quick to laugh and quick to anger, and he finds it hard to regulate his emotions, although he certainly tries. While he can be extremely forgiving and patient with those he already loves, this certainly isn’t a trait consistent towards everyone: Milos tend to decide how he feels about someone or something on first impressions, and it usually isn’t easy to change this, for better or for worse.


This quick-to-judge nature doesn’t quench his thirst for knowledge and novelty; there is little more wonderful to him than the many pleasures of life. Milos is adventurous—bordering on reckless at times—curious, and inquisitive, much like many others Æld'Norai. He’s passionate about his kin’s history, language, and culture, loving fictional and real stories all the same. However, he does nurture a deep curiosity for the world outside of Ælheim as well, and he isn’t above pestering a merchant or visitor for tales of their homelands. Of course, he’s eager to reciprocate, although it’s nearly impossible to get a tale out of him that isn’t woven with fiction. As passionate as he is about hearing stories, he is about telling them, and the embellished or changed tales are only partially to keep Æld'Norai’s secrecy towards outsiders.


For an Æld'Norai, Milos can be considered impulsive and impatient, although shorter-lived races may not consider him such. He can work for a whole year on a single costume or wait months to approach a subject, but he speaks what comes to mind without taking time to think about it, and his concept of later can be anytime from a few minutes to a few years. He’s passionate about everything he does, but far from singularly focused—if something catches his interest, he has no qualms about pursuing it, jumping from one thing to another as it suits him.

HISTORY
While Milos' enjoys weaving tales of a wild childhood, the truth is that it wasn't all that different from other Æld'Norai—if perhaps with a few more accidents along the way. He has nothing but a vague, foggy memory of his parents, and the only things he can achieve when trying to remember details are headaches and frustration. In fact, he doesn't remember much of the forty years before his week-long Awakening, when his verdure gland developed and a little whisp named Rúna appeared in his life. The process itself wasn't particularly traumatic, and Milos can't pinpoint exactly the reason why his memories before that time are so inaccessible to him. A part of him still mourns that loss, at moments wondering if he passes by his parents on Ælfiríki's streets without recognizing their faces; however, he has mostly accepted his Awakening as his rebirth, the moment his life truly begun, and commits to living it to the fullest rather than dwelling in a past he can't recover.

Milos took full advantage of the opportunities to pursue his desires, often jumping from one apprenticeship to another, always trying to find his passion. The rarity of his kin's birth meant he didn't really have many of his own age growing up, but he made sure to pester the older Æld'Norai and whatever traveller he could find for their skills and stories. It was through this constant search for knowledge—and, in a way, his place in the world—that Milos learned bits and pieces of other languages and cultures. In his heart, he yearns to leave Ælheim and see what the universe has to offer, but, at the same time, he habours a deep love towards his home. Over time, he found his way between animals, plants, and the people he cares so much about, and he's constantly torn between wanting to travel and wanting to stay.

It was during one of his many apprenticeships that he discovered that he could express himself through song, writing, and painting. Unlike many of his other pursuits, he clung to these as a way of freeing the anxious energy inside of him so unlike his kin. While he's more than happy to share his creations, Milos is more concerned about expression and the deep feeling of freedom art gives him rather than any external approval. It was around this time that he formed his pact with Aolu, and that triggered a search for knowledge about the Godheads; although Milos wouldn't consider himself religious, he respects some Godheads more than others, and will often weave their aspects into his creations.

As he grew older, still pursuing his calling without commiting to any specific trade, Milos found his way into Söngr Nætur, a brothel in the outskirts of the Hekseved District. He's not above weaving a tale of misfortune that led him to seek employment there to any traveller not used to Ælheim, but, in truth, he simply felt at home. Occasional visits became more frequent, until he convinced one of the workers, Væris, to teach him how to dance. In the end, he stayed, mostly working as a dancer and creating clothing for the other workers, but, occasionally, taking customers himself as well.

As an Æld'Norai, the source of Milos' Draoidh is Ældrassil. He possesses nigh unmatched survival skills; attempting to track him down in a forest is a borderline impossible endeavor.

  • Milos can utilize what bound plants he has grown upon his bodies to gain photosynthesis, allowing him to gather sustenance from moonlight. Additionally, the plant fibers woven into his flesh allow his body to hold onto water for longer.

    Milos can go without food or water by up to a season, provided he's able to consistently spend time under the moonlight.
  • The art of stirring and manipulating the Saol within living things, quickening the growth of plants (25ft) and heal wounds (touch). It functions by threading Florabound plants into the wound and imparting Saol that way; by the end of the cast, the plants will start to 'meld' with the body and restore the damaged flesh. Whilst effective no matter what plant is being utilized for this purpose, the experience varies from itchy to downright agonizing as the recipient feels every manipulation of both their flesh and the plant interacting with it. Flora with anesthetic, tranquilizing, or otherwise soothing effects is generally preferred for this reason.

    Milos may revitalize even the catastrophically wounded or cleanse even the most pernicious diseases and poisons in a matter of minutes. The fruits borne of plants Invigorated by him are incomparably delicious to all others and the flowers possess an otherworldly vibrance. Bound plant species invigorate about 200% faster than others.
  • Reinvigoration utilizes either the Milos’ own Saol or that of another living thing, allowing him to multiply it in order to restore life to dead plant matter. It may be used remotely on his bound plantlife but must be used via touch when applied to creatures.

    Milos is able to regrow even plants ravaged by disease, plagues or destructive magics. If using the spell to Syphon Saol, it would take 10 minutes for him to drain a target entirely of Saol. Ambient Grove Saol-Syphoning takes 3 hours.
  • Through a simple, meditative ritual, Milos may bond with specific plants, thereby allowing his Invigorating abilities to have stronger effects on that species as well as being able to grow that plant and its seeds from his body. Milos is immune to the plants that he grows or creates.

    Bound Plants (1/12):
    • Færamflora (50 XP): The flora's smell blends with Milos' scent to become universally pleasing. Milos can cast in order to send those that can smell them into a frenzied arousal directed at himself (this doesn't force the victims to do anything).
  • Milos can manipulate plantlife as if it is an extension of himself, bending them to his will with ease. What he may do is only limited now by what plants he has access to up to 25ft.
  • Milos can rapidly meld with the trees and other plants around him, able to travel through the plant’s roots through the earth to another plant of the same type within a 5 miles in the blink of an eye.
  • Milos may weave into a territory the plants he has bound himself to in order to claim it. Within his Grove, he has an increased ease of control of the plantlife within and his casting of Glamour spells require only half the normal Saol, except for Floramancy, which requires only one fourth.

    To make a grove, Milos must first select a location and then tend to it, infusing his magic into the land and plants around him. If he has chosen a location with no or few existing plants, then he must grow them from scratch. If the location already has plantlife, he can hybridize the local flora with his own bound plants.

    Milos' grove can be limitless in size, as long as enough time and space is dedicated to it. The plants within his grove grow three times faster than normal.

ANIMISM
master
  • Milos has a good understanding of the origins, tenets, and histories of each Glamour, each of its master and lesser abilities, and an encyclopedic understanding of Ælphyne and the Faefolk culture and history.
  • Animism is, in essence, the study of nature. Milos has an encyclopedic understanding of how organisms, people included, interact with the environment and how fauna and flora impact one another.
  • Beast Tongue is a language like any other, something one learns alongside Animism’s other tenets. Only elder CR6 beasts might speak with eccentricities beyond his grasp.
  • Wildsong can pacify fauna by canting words of Saol of a matching Challenge Rating. Milos can pacify up to CR5 Fauna.
  • After pacifying an animal with Wildsong, Milos may form a bond with it, taking the creature on as his Familiar. This bond is formed through a ritual that connects the pair’s souls, requiring the two of them to enter a Saol-steeped meditative trance. For most animals, Milos will have to instruct his would-be Familiar into doing this utilizing Beast Tongue. Losing a Familiar causes catastrophic emotional pain that takes a long time to recover from.

    Before bonding, fauna with Beast Magic will first require feeding, touching them with, or embedding within them Alkahest of that same Metaphor, equivalent to the CR of that animal.

    By attuning his souls to his Animal Familiar, Milos may adopt their Beast Magic (up to CR5), channeling that creature to grow the necessary anatomy and organs to wield it.

    Flora
    Milos is also capable of entering into a similar bond with plants by attuning his souls to the Saol flowing through the plant (up to CR5).

    Saolbinds may be performed.

    Rite of Growth
    By expending Saol Alkahest equivalent to 10x the desired CR tier, Milos may conduct a ritual upon his Animal Familiar to strengthen and enlarge the beast, heightening its Beast Magic prowess to match that CR (up to 5). The animal will break free should the Animist exceed their control.

  • Milos can change his features in order to beautify, or more creatively express himself in each of the senses. All changes that are made are permanent in the sense that they do not require Metaphor to maintain the change, but do not confer an advantage, except that they might hide a scent, denser musculature, tough scales, or body fat.

    Milos may conceal major imperfections; alter how he smells, tastes, and feels; adjust facial features at will; change his hair color, lenght, and style; make alterations to his overall silhouette (including size); and borrow aesthetic features from other races.
  • Milos can imbue things he create with an artistic flair associated with the senses. All changes that are made to an object are permanent in the sense that they do not require Metaphor to maintain the change. Changes do not confer an advantage.

    Milos may add major artistic flair, enough to make his work stand out with obvious magical properties. He can alter the aesthetic of how his creations looks, smells, tastes, or feels, and may add details to artwork that is physically impossible to achieve with mundane tools. The materials he uses can appear to be whatever he desires, including their quality.
  • When Milos is physically restrained with non-magical restraints, he can magically escaping, although he is never in control over how the magic works and it can take days or weeks, depending on the complexity of the situation. Milos merely yearns to be free and things tend to happen to his advantage.
  • Milos can lace an area around him with a stipulation that any actions taken must be play-acted in order to be successful. The affected area is a radius of up to 25 ft around Milos that moves with him, and lasts for up to 5 minutes.

    This ability is not meant to confer an advantage and is purely for flair. Those within the area would have an innate feeling for what they had to do in order to take action.

    Milos' Grove

    Location: Ælfiríki's Koren District, Myrkvior Basin, Ælheim

    Located in the outskirts of the Koren District, Milos' house is a small wooden cabin built through a tree. It has a small kitchen attached to a sitting area full of pillows, books, parchments, fabrics, and painting supplies. The kitchen has a small assortment of cooking pots and cuttlery, although it looks less as a place to prepare meals, the counters filled with potted plants. Milos' bedroom has turned into a studio, half-finished outfits spread over the bed and paintings leaning against the walls. He tends to sleep on the living room's pillows rather than on his room. He swears there's a method to the house's madness, and, while it isn't exactly a tidy place, he makes sure to keep it clean.

    But his pride and joy is the small garden around the house; plants grow on the cabin's roof, the walls, and on the ground. Milos has woven his Æcturnis through the ground, claiming his small spot within the communal grove.

    Rúna and Milos met either shortly before he Awakened into Æcturnis or during it—he can't quite remember, and Rúna's recounting of events change slightly every time. Regardless of the truth, she remained at Milos' side throughout that week, sometimes offering words of support, sometimes taking his mind off the painful changes by annoying him with her opinion about him. In exchange for the companionship, Milos offered stories of his own, and, after the Awakening, the two became quick friends.

    Rúna insists she's Milos' guide and guardian, and Milos insists she's the reason they get into trouble. His tendency to embelish information certainly comes from the Wisp, and it's clear that their years of friendship have made share some personality traits. In many ways, Rúna became family to him, and they sometimes refer to each other as siblings. They'll often be seen together, and Rúna does take a role of mentor, although Milos will vehemently deny the worth of any advice she gives.

    Væris works in Söngr Nætur as a dancer, known in the establishment for her non-nonsense, direct, and almost blunt demeanor that hides her almost endless well of patience. She's almost guarded in her interactions with others, not speaking much about herself, but hiding a warmth and nurturing demeanor to those she forms bonds with. Væris has always desired a children, but, so far, she hasn't had any luck with fertility treatments, something that greatly saddens her. Instead, she funnels her maternal instincts towards the workers in Söngr Nætur, standing up to them and taking novices under her wing.

    While Milos' less patient personality initially rubbed her the wrong way, it didn't take long for her to adopt him under her, just like she had done with multiple newcomers before him. However, his lack of a mother figure that he could remember strengthened the bond between them, with Væris eventually fully taking upon herself the role of guiding him to find his place in life—and, often enough, away from harsh decisions. She tries to keep a mentor-only relationship with him, dreading the possibility that he'll eventually follow his words and leave, but it's clear to any observer that they both have grown more attached to each other.

    Appearance: large (27"), and slightly overweight despite Milos' best efforts. Pui's body is dark green, with bioluminescent blue markings.

    When Milos found Pui, he was barely a juvenile, weak and struggling to survive with a single sibling. Milos took both of them home, but, in the end, only Pui survived. Initially, Milos planned to release him once he was better, but, like it's often the case with life, things didn't go as planned.

    The first release attempt had Milos rescuing his neighbor's plants because Pui decided to throw a temper tantrum over not being allowed inside the house anymore. The second attempt ended with Milos nursing bites and a very pissed Dælophosaurus napping on his living room pillows. Finally, Milos decided to just let him stay, and it didn't take long before he grew used to Pui's company and the two bonded.

    With age, Pui settled down a bit and incidents of him trying to eat the neighbor's pets lowered to a minimum, mostly feeding on transpassing rodents and lizards. Still, the Dælophosaurus is as territorial of the Grove as he has always been and still not over trying to find out how Rúna tastes.
