The bear looked at the wolves lazily. They were annoying little flies. It squashed one with a well timed almost lazy slap. The dragon was unexpected, however. The bear roared more out of annoyance than pain. It stood up on its hind legs just a little to try shaking the dragon off but Skripi would be able to hang on for dear life.
Things ended rather anticlimactically. Makt was a sparkling blur that raced along the ground and he hit his mark. The bear would not die instantly, but its underside was suddenly nonexistent. There was a gaping chunk missing from its body but the wound did not bleed as it had charred instantly. The bear had hardly felt any pain so it landed on its legs confused as to why it was having trouble breathing.
Jhinhae ducked under its chin and shoved her spear right through its head when the opportunity arose. The bear was now, finally dead.
She was teary eyed as she had lost multiple familiars but this was her life. She would find new ones, eventually and then go hunt her next quarry.
The forest was eerily quiet after that. The warriors might have spotted an aelf or two in the trees who had come to see what all the commotion was about. They had probably been there for a while, always ready to jump in if Engill was in danger.
Jhinhae said a prayer for the fallen, though she cared little for the humans. Then, she would hold up a bag and drop it at the center of the clearing. Just as mysteriously as she had come, she then left.
